Hi, I’m Kristi Villanueva candidate for city council district two on the east side.

I’m a wife, a mother, a business owner. I’m your neighbor.

And for far too long all of us have been left behind.

It’s time for a change. It’s time for more responsiveness.

We can work together and move forward as a united force to make sure that we connect and make this a better place for our entire family

Meet Kristi

I am Kristi Villanueva, and I am running to be your City Councilperson for District 2. Over the past three years, I have served as President/CEO of the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and Deputy Prgm. Mgr. for the previous six years. Learning from and working with all levels of members in the business community to provide insight into the broad base of business challenges and the impact from municipal policy. Additionally, I was honored to serve as an appointee to the VIA Metropolitan Transportation Board of Trustees, appointee to the City of San Antonio’s Ethic Commission, Board Member of Mission Heritage Partners and Honorary Commander for Joint Base San Antonio.

As a District 2 resident, I have experienced first-hand the lack of basic services, inadequate public safety, minimal economic development, and “non-solutions based” thinking from our city leadership. As a mother of two, my appreciation for the resources people around me do not have, is heart-breaking.

Most of all, I recognize the desperate need for sound leadership that will re-stabilize the District and form a balanced foundation for responsible land use, expanded resources for our community, safe neighborhoods and consistent business growth. Like no other candidate, my background and diverse experience provides me a unique set of tools from which to address the diversity of both state and municipal issues.

As a small business owner, my appreciation for the sacrifice and dedication of hard-working men and women, coupled with an understanding of the risk and personal sacrifice taken daily by business owners small, medium and large, serves as the basis for my balanced perspective.

BIO

Kristi Villanueva was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX in 1972 where she excelled in sports, community volunteerism and marketing as a young woman. She moved to San Antonio in 2010 to join her mother and brother after their move into the city six year prior.

Mrs. Villanueva has spent the early part of her career in public relations, government affairs and small business advocacy.

After the move to San Antonio she joined a locally owned electrical and construction firm to manage their government affair and grew into the role of international project manager with a top secret clearance targeting work for the Department of Defense.

In 2017, Kristi had the unique opportunity to put her 18+ years of work experience and volunteer roles to good use by leading the West San Antonio Chamber as their new President and CEO. She transformed the chamber into a place of education, support and valued resources for small businesses from across the city.

After her simultaneous role with the VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority and role on the Advanced Rapid Transit campaign team she knew that there was much more work to be done in support of the people in San Antonio. With much reflection and a number of conversations with the board members of each board she made the tough decision to resign from her roles and run for public office.

Kristi has dedicated her life to family, close friends and her love of community. She remains a small business owner with her husband and looks forward to sharing her leadership experience to inspire, encourage and build stronger leadership wherever it is needed.
